The Question at Hand

One of the questions that many patients have is how to go about getting the esthetic they desire. Aside from consulting with an experienced dentist, we understand that you would like to have some idea of what is possible through different options. Here, we will touch on two ways in which teeth may be improved, either esthetically, structurally, or both.

Porcelain Veneers

As the demand for a naturally beautiful smile has grown, so has the popularity of porcelain veneer treatment. Veneers are affixed to the front of individual teeth. The intent is to perfect the shape, shade, or size of that tooth. Some of the common complaints about which veneers make sense include internal stains, chips and cracks, spacing issues, slight alignment issues, and sizing issues. There is no structural value in veneers. If a tooth has been damaged and needs to be protected from injury, a crown may be a better treatment option.

Porcelain Crowns

Most people have heard of crown treatment, or have at least one crown in their mouth. Crowns are more encompassing than veneers; they are bonded over the tooth to create an entirely new surface. The purpose of crowning a tooth is to protect it. Originally, that was the only purpose. Today, crowns are made from materials like porcelain in order to meet consumer need for an authentic appearance in addition to structural integrity.

Both crowns and veneers meet specific needs of patients within a short time frame. Usually, treatment is conducted over two to three visits over a few weeks’ time. The outcome looks like you, only more vibrant and healthy.

We are here to support you in your need for a healthy, attractive smile. Contact us to schedule your consultation and exam.
