CEREC
The days of wearing an uncomfortable temporary restoration are in the past. We use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to create precisely fitting restorations like dental crowns for our patients the same day as their procedure. Following your procedure, we will take digital impressions of your teeth using CEREC. Then the machine will mill your beautiful ceramic restoration in our office. We will place it within the hour and you will be on your way. CEREC eliminates patients waiting around wearing a temporary restoration or visiting our office multiple times. Our patients love the convenience of CEREC technology!
Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)
In the past, x-rays used a lot of radiation, took forever to process and were uncomfortable to take as a patient. Today, we use digital x-rays that emit significantly less radiation and capture clearer images that upload automatically to our computers. This helps cut your appointment time down and allow us to diagnose and treat you much faster. We will discuss your x-rays during your appointment and show you the different parts of your mouth.
WaterLase MD Laser
Used for laser dentistry, our WaterLase MD laser combines air, water and laser energy for dental treatments. The dental laser allows us to perform dental procedures without the heat or vibration of traditional dental drills and results in a virtually painless and quiet procedure.
The laser allows us to treat patients who have a fear of needles or dental anxiety without any discomfort. In addition, it allows us to remove less tooth structure than traditional methods and even reduces bacteria in the mouth. You can expect to also experience less bleeding and faster healing.
Fotona Lightwalker
Massa Dental Center is the hub for sleep and snoring treatment in Naples, FL. The Fotona Lightwalker laser uses photothermal technology to form and improve the elasticity of the collagen in the back of your mouth. Focusing on the oropharynx, soft palate, and uvula, the Lightwalker targets muscle tissues to tighten the oropharyngeal tissue and visibly elevate the soft palate and uvula. With the upper airway wider, oxygen has more room to pass through, resulting in decreased sleep apnea symptoms, less snoring, and a better night’s sleep. The Fotona Lightwalker is non-invasive, has no downtime, increases your quality of sleep, is safe, and is a quick treatment with excellent results.
Vivos®️
Achieving optimal health requires proper breathing. Proper breathing is essential for quality sleep and improved quality of life. Currently, 90% of Americans suffer from conditions linked to improper breathing or lack of sleep. Some of these conditions include sleep apnea, depression, asthma, allergies, ADHD, snoring, hypertension and much more. One of the major causes of improper breathing is from an underdeveloped upper and/or lower jaw. When the jaw is underdeveloped, it causes a smaller airway which leads to a restriction of air. When the airway is restricted, it can decrease oxygen levels and cause a lack of sleep. By simply improving breathing, sleep and quality of life can also improve.
One way to correct an underdeveloped jaw and improve breathing, sleep and life quality is with the Vivos®️ system. Vivos®️ is a non-surgical approach to target craniofacial underdevelopment. Vivos®️ appliance therapy promotes proper upper and lower jaw development by signaling stem cells to biomimetically induce bone growth. Once the jawbones create a more ideal airway for better breathing, health problems reduce and quality of life improves.
VaTech CBCT
The Massa Dental Center has the ultimate in diagnostic ability with the Green VaTech CBCT machine. Using innovative technology, the ultra-low dose cone beam cat scan (CBCT), protect both the patient and the office team and enable our dentists with superior 2D and 3D images to diagnose our patient’s dental and medical situations. From settings that allow small fields of view to a full head view, we can customize pictures to individual needs.
Whether the need to examine for a small tooth fracture, to a complex orthognathic and implant surgery, there is no better diagnostic image available at low radiation doses than the VaTech. Sleep apnea and upper airway resistance are routinely evaluated with this wonderful technology to aid in proper diagnosis and treatment planning to better the lives of our patients.
K-7
The Massa Dental Center treats hundreds of individuals who suffer from the many debilitating effects of temporomandibular joint dysfunction or myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome (TMD or TMJ). The K-7 is an invaluable piece of technology that measures and records mandibular lower jaw function and chewing muscle status.
Data on jaw tracking (measurement of existing jaw trajectory and the establishment of proper bite trajectory), electromyography (evaluation of the muscles that control jaw position, and head and neck posture), plus joint sonography (assessing the status of the jaw joint function to jaw joint disc), with the K-7, provides Dr. Massa with enhanced diagnostic data and treatment information not previously available.
ULF-TENS
The main concern in our treatment of our patients with TMD/TMJ issues is the relief of their symptoms. Treatment needs to include therapies that can relax the jaw by a gentle massage of the muscles. ULF-TENS is a daily treatment modality used by the Massa Dental Center. ULF-TENS means ultra-low frequency transcutaneous electrical neural stimulation.
Just think rhythmic pulses to relax muscles by increasing blood flow and oxygen to those muscles, and causing the release of waste products, like lactic acid, that have been trapped in constricted and shortened muscles. ULF-TENS use helps the neuromuscular dentist, like Dr. Massa, find the jaws optimal position, rest position and therefore the optimal bite position.
While traditional dentistry evaluates primarily the teeth and gums, Massa Dental will evaluate the interaction between the hard (teeth/bone) and soft tissues (muscles, fascia, and ligaments). We want to help our patients achieve a harmonious balance between the muscles, bone, teeth and posture to provide an avenue to healing and lasting pain relief. The use of ULF-TENS is paramount to this philosophy.
The therapy is non-invasive and does not involve the unwanted side effects that come with medication or more invasive treatments. Certain tens units just act to contract muscles; this is not the goal with ULF-TENS but rather to cause muscle relaxation.
Intra-Oral Camera
The use of intraoral cameras leads to faster results and better treatment planning for patients in need of advanced dental procedures. Small enough to fit comfortably into a patient’s mouth, an intraoral camera allows Dr. Massa to view areas of the mouth that he normally cannot see clearly without the use of this modern device.
We can view images from the camera on the flat screens within our operatory, enabling both patient and dentist to discuss what is going on inside the patient’s mouth. For our patients with dental insurance, we can submit intra-oral camera pictures with claims, to help help our patients receive their insurance reimbursements.
VELscope Oral Cancer Screenings
Our last piece of dental technology we use regularly is the VELscope Oral Cancer Screening. VELscope uses natural tissue fluorescence to help dentists see visual signs of abnormalities in oral tissue that may not otherwise be visible or apparent to the naked eye.
The device is one of the most widely used devices that enhance the visualization of abnormalities such as pre-malignant dysplasia and oral cancer. With early detection, patients have a better chance for a positive recovery and may potentially save a life.
If you would like to experience this amazing modern dental technology for yourself for your next dental procedure, please contact Massa Dental Center to schedule an appointment. You can reach us online or by calling (239) 597-7333.
