Dental Information Without the Jargon
Online dental information often falls into one of two extremes. It is either so technical that patients cannot easily use it or so promotional that every treatment sounds like the obvious answer. We want this library to do something more useful.
Our articles are designed to help you understand why a dental problem may be occurring, what treatment options are commonly considered, and how different treatments compare. They can also help you identify questions worth asking before proceeding, recognize claims that may require more caution, and understand when a dental examination or evaluation by a medical provider may be necessary.
An article can give you context, but it cannot diagnose a tooth, determine whether you have sleep apnea, establish why your jaw hurts, or tell you which treatment is appropriate without examining you. That distinction is an important part of useful patient education.
